USA Trials-Colorado Springs, CO
42 prospects in the class of 2025-2028 competed for a roster spot on the 2024 USA U17 National Team. My single day of viewing prospects proved to be enlightening as expected.
Here are 5 prospects that elevated their position to be chosen for the team:
- Aaliyah Crump (6-2 G 2025 MN): Superior length and the ability to manufacture shots at all 3 levels put Crump in a position to repeat aa a national team member.
- Saniyah Hall (6-1 G 2026 OH): Another guard with length, versatility and the offensive firepower to deliver from the arc, make fluid plays to the hoop. Consistent results is the key to her game.
- Nation Williams (6-1 PF 2027 NV): Perhaps the most impactful performance in the intitial day of the trials, Williams was a finished product attacking in the lane, defending and battling on the glass vs. bigger opponents. A stock-riser in the class of 2027!
- Kaleena Smith (5-5 PG 2027 CA): "Special K" was just that, especially in the second sesson of the day as the nation's top ranked prospect in 2027 went to work. Already an accomplished scorer with 3-level delivery, Smith is quite the passer, dishing in traffic or advancing the ball in transition with precision. Don't let the size fool you, Smith continues to impact.
- Hailee Swain (5-8 PG GA 2025): An experience left-handed floor general with prior national team experience, Swain was a poised, explosive prospect in running her team, executing in the half-court while delivering offensive firepower.
Stock-rises at the USA Trials:
- Jayla Forbes (6-5 C 2027 AL)
- Alex Eschmeyer (6-4 PF CO 2025)
- Kate Harpring (5-9 G GA 2026)
